Turkey time

November 10th, 2008

The library and a local farm had a meet and greet with some feathered friends. Clay was so excited and gobbled everytime the turkeys did. (I need to get a video of it…funniest noise ever!) Cole let everyone know how gross it would be to eat turkey on Thanksgiving. I think he has high hopes of being president of PETA one day so he wanted to get his campaign started early. Sorry for the blurriness, but trying to get birds AND kids to stay still at the same time just isn’t easy.

Fall catch up

November 6th, 2008

Life gets in the way of talking about it and I’m too busy taking pictures to post pictures. I think daily of something that I need to blog, but I don’t take the time. So now I’m struggling to remember some highlights over the past couple months.

School started…we all LOVE it!

One kid is SO much easier than 2 or 3! Toting Clay to run errands is a piece of cake and he loves the quiet too. First day of school, I went to pick the boys up. The kids are released one by one to each parent in the hall. So Mrs. Hauseschultz, the teacher, was saying goodbye to each of the kids…..’Good listening skills during story time Sofie, good bye. Max, you did a great job sharing today. See you next time. Aiden, you painted so well. Oh, ummm Mrs. Armitage could you please stay for a little while? I need to talk to you.’ I died. It was like I was being sent to the principal’s office. Not only was I embarrassed in front of all these parents, but I came up with a million bad things the boys could have done to get in trouble…Chase showed some kid how Rocky fights or Cole bit some kid or or or or. Evidentally, Chase was lost outside on the playground for 10 minutes. There is a little kids area fenced in and the big kids area. 4 adults couldn’t keep an eye on a gate and 16 kids. Chase went to play on the big structure with the big kids.

Since then, school has been uneventful, thankfully. They had a field trip to the apple orchard that was fun.

A Halloween party they enjoyed.

They just love going and have made some good friends. Max is their favorite. He and his family is coming over for dinner Sunday…..they are so geeked.

Chicago in September was great fun.

Against my wishes, Clay turned 1. Yes, they are a dog bowl and bone cakes. :)

Fall is fun!

October is fire safety month….we hit 4 or 5 department’s open houses. Got lots of balloons, stickers, hats and tatoos….and even got to ride in a tower truck.

We picked our pumpkin at a patch with a hay ride by us.

Halloween was awesome! Alvin, Simon, Theodore and I went to lots of parties. There was the apple orchard for a twins group party, the mall, a neighbor’s house party, the zoo, school, and Annie’s for the real deal. We got plenty of use out of the costumes!

Cole gave Chase a haircut….or ’scraped his hair’ as Chase says.

Clay is dying to walk and talk. He says mama, dada, doggie, no, uh oh, and yesterday I’m pretty sure he said not good. He’s in the 95th percentile for height and 75th for weight. He’s crazy about tackling and wrestling with his brothers and dogs. He is absolutely fearless and oh so tough.

We spend a lot of time at the library for ’school’ and story times. The park and nature walks are good fun in the Fall. Which brings us up to date I think….this week was the election. Obviously, it’s hard to avoid the candidates on tv. The boys knew who John McCain and Obama were and could easily recognize them. We have talked about voting and picking a favorite. I took them with me to the polls Tuesday. We walked in the high school gym filled with people and they wanted to know where John McCain was. Where is he? When is he coming? How come he’s not here? They were SO disappointed and didn’t understand why he wasn’t there to meet us. It was hilarious how distraught they were. We went to the zoo for probably our last visit of the year since it was over 70 degrees and all was well.

Angel Chase

July 30th, 2008

We actually went to church this past weekend.  The boys take canned goods up to the alter for poor people when we do make it to church.  The priest puts them in a basket, gives the kids hugs and sends them back to their seats.  I usually walk with them partially and let me go by themselves They see me so they know where to return.  They are always so excited to do it and love the moments of independence.  On thier way back this week,  Chase in a non-whispering voice exclaims, 'Mom, I LOVE Jesus!'  In his defense, the priest could be old enough to be Jesus' older brother.

My head examination is scheduled for later today

July 18th, 2008

In the category of 'What was I thinking?', I took all three monkeys to the doctor yesterday for their check ups.  That is an hour and a half I'll never get back. Considering it was at nap time and nobody got one, they actually were quite good.  I had prepped them fairly well, so there weren't a whole lot of surprises…except the 'check to see how big your muscles are' machine (aka blood pressure cuff).  That was pretty cool that the nurse could pump their muscles for them.  Peeing in a cup is fun….peeing in the toilet not so great, but a cup, that's cool.  Finger pricks for the two big boys and 3 shots for peanut.  A couple tears for the shots, but nothing out of my mini macho men.  It hurt, but not hardly a complaint.  Everyone is the 95%+ for height and Cole, Chase and Clay weigh 37, 39, and 21 pounds, respectively.  That's 100 pounds I'm pushing in the stroller!
